Winifred Jean Miller (nee Warren) entered the arms of her Savior on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the age of 86 years, 6 months.
Jean, as she was always known to family and friends, was born to Clara and George Warren on December 3, 1937, as the seventh of their nine children. She grew up primarily in Sturgeon Bay, WI, where she met the love of her life, William Miller, when he asked her to a movie on his 16th birthday. They dated the rest of high school and went to college together at the University of Dubuque, IA. They were married after their junior year, before moving to Denver, CO to complete their teaching degrees at Denver University. They both began teaching in Denver and that is where their first 3 children were born. Their youngest was born in Streator, IL, before the family eventually settled in Waukesha, WI. Jean worked as an English teacher early on but invested most of her years raising their 4 children. When her children were grown, she worked in the Waukesha schools and was active in a number of church ministries. She was a gifted pianist and played regularly in the church and in several local nursing homes. She and Bill instilled a rich heritage of faith and family in all their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and were members of Elmbrook Church for over 50 years. Their 66 years of marriage is a testimony of their faithful love for each other and the Lord.
Jean bravely endured many years of health problems related to Parkinson’s Disease and was lovingly cared for at home by Bill in her final years of life. She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 siblings. She is survived by 3 siblings (Betty, Dave & Robin), her husband Bill as well as 4 children & their spouses [Garth & Magally Miller, Boyd & Melissa Miller, Jennifer (nee Miller) & Michael Witek, and Eric & Ann Miller]. They have been blessed to have 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family is served by Krause Funeral Home and will celebrate her life with a service on June 13, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Elmbrook Church, 777 S Barker Rd, Brookfield, WI 53045. Visitation will be at 11:00 am at the church immediately preceding the service.
A private family burial ceremony will occur on June 15, 2024, at Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca, WI, where her parents and several siblings have also been laid to rest and where the extended Warren family enjoyed many beautiful memories on the Chain O’Lakes.
Flowers or Memorial Gifts may be sent to the church where they will be directed to support the missions program which was always one of Jean’s passions.
