Schurrer, James Leland (Jim)
It is with heavy hearts, we share the passing of James Leland Schurrer on April 22, 2026, at the age of 82. He passed peacefully surrounded by family, leaving behind a strong legacy of love, devotion and kindness.
Jim was the loving husband of Patricia for 61 years and an amazing father to daughters Lynda (Craig) and Lisa (Scott), and son Mark, who preceded him in death. He was also a forever dog dad to Rylee. As a proud grandfather, known affectionately as Grandpa or Papa, he doted on Kaitlyn, Megan (Ryan), Gabriel (Deme), Lindsay, and Mason, and was a great-grandfather to Penelope.
Jim was our “Mr. Fix It”. Lovingly known as “Colonel Contractor”, he was the one we always called on as an expert carpenter, plumber, electrician, mechanic, or landscaper. No matter the problem, big or small, he was there to help. His workshop was a marvel, stocked with just the right tool for any job—from the smallest washer to the largest torque wrench. He often teased that he was going to start a library-style sign-out sheet so he could keep track of everything his family borrowed.
When he wasn’t mid-project, Jim found joy in testing his luck at casinos, spending winters in the Florida sun, and simply being with his family. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in our hearts for the love he gave, the lessons he taught and the strong foundation he built for us.
Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin, on Friday, May 8, 2026, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Service at 10:00 AM with lunch to follow. Burial will be held privately at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
