James Thomas (Sarge) English was born September 6, 1950 in Phil­adelphia, Pennsylvania. James was the first of six children. He departed this life Friday, December 23, 2022.

James received his formal education in Atlantic City and Pleasantville, New Jersey. He joined the United States Air Force at age 17 and spent the next 24 years serving his country. While in the Air Force, he earned his Bachelor and Masters degree in Education from Webster University and the University of Southern Illinois. While at SIU he pledged with the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He then moved to Milwaukee, WI where he spent the next 24 years teaching Junior ROTC and History at Bradley Tech High School.

While at Bradley Tech High School he coached boys freshman football, girls volleyball, girls basketball, and the track team. He was also a chaperone on the senior trips and for the prom and cook for the honor society.

James met and married the love of his life Sandra Tillis in the year 2000. He enjoyed taking his wife on vacation and spoiling her every chance he got. He loved to vacation in Jamaica so much that he and his wife eloped and were married there. James was also an avid photographer. He loved taking pictures at the prom and other events at school and of the grandchildren.

James peacefully departed this life on December 23, 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother Neota English Jackson, daughter, Chartega English, son James English Jr., brothers Gilbert English and Gifford Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Sandra English of Milwaukee, WI, son, Ivan English of Pensacola FL, step children Felicia Wilkins of Phoenix, AZ, and Michael Wilkins of Milwaukee WI, sisters Celeste English, Constance White and brother Kevin (Tracy) Jackson all of New Jersey. Four grandchildren, four step grand­ children, one step great nephew, one great grandchild, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation for James will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM with the service to follow at 12:00 PM.

Sarge was one of the kindest people I met when I was a brand new teacher at Bradley Tech. He always had a kind word or something to say to make me laugh - we shared stories of time in the military - me as the child of a service member and his personal experiences. Sarge will live on in the good memories of so many, I am happier for having the honor of knowing and working with him.
