Rita, So very sorry to hear about your loss. Jim was a wonderful man. He was in the room next to my mom in the hospital in 1989. When my mom passed away, I was crying out in the hallway & you came & put your arms around me. Jim was also suffering from cancer at the time. We kept in contact when you lived in Hales Corners & for quite awhile after you moved from there. You were 2 special people who I will never forget. My husband Tom, passed away 6 years ago & I miss him so much. We, too had a marriage like you & Jim. I feel like I know him even better after reading the obituary today. Thanks for everything. You are such a strong person, Rita, and I know you'll be alright. Love, Carole

Jim was one of the finest persons I have ever had the privilege of knowing. He was a gentle, humble, compassionate and caring individual. He combined a steady, reliable, wise and competent range of skills and talents with a self-deprecating sense of humor. He welcomed all, recognizing their true worth in God's eyes, regardless of their background or history. His gifts were put to the task of building the human community. Him's service i the many civic and religious organizations to which he generously gave his time and expertise were both initiatives and responses to the needs of others. He was a keen observer of the human condition and an equally compassionate companion along the road of life. The great love and friendship he shared with Rita blossomed into the gifts of presence and wise counsel as they both walked with so many of us who were friends of this unique couple. Jim continues to walk with us, not only in memory, but in the real presence of our loved ones, which the God who is love itself, has promised us. As the poet Tagore tells us, "Death is not extinguishing the light; it is only putting out the lamp because the dawn has come."

There is a proverb: "When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. May you live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice." The world will weep for a very long time! Jim left his mark on every life he touched. We are honored to have known him, to have loved him, to have called him friend. Our deepest sympathies and love to Rita. He loved you with an ever lasting love!
