James “Jim” A. Bloedow

James “Jim” Bloedow, 80, was peacefully born to eternal life on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at his Pewaukee, Wisconsin home of 46 years while in the loving presence of his beloved wife, Linda, and their three sons.

Jim was born on November 4, 1945, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, to Herman and Dorothy Bloedow. He was raised in Pewaukee and remained a proud member of the community throughout his life.

A hardworking and self-made businessman, Jim built a successful career as the owner of Bloedow’s Carpets and More alongside his wife and co-owner, Linda. Through years of dedication, honesty, and exceptional service, he earned the respect and trust of countless customers and friends. His strong work ethic, commitment to his business, and genuine care for others were matched only by his devotion to his family.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Although he rarely sought recognition for his service, he was always willing to share stories from his time in Vietnam with his family. His family was captivated by his stories of flying in a Huey helicopter as Crew Chief and Gunner and the tense moments of rocket attacks, when rockets flew over his barracks and exploded nearby. His stories reflected not only the dangers he faced, but also his courage, resilience, and the perspective he carried with him throughout his life.

Jim was also a standout athlete at Pewaukee High School, played football, baseball, basketball, and was in track. In 1962, he set a school football record with 12 touchdown receptions in a single season, a record that still stands today.

Jim also left a lasting legacy with the Pewaukee Land O’ Lakes baseball team. Known as “Blades” by his friends, he was a legendary catcher who led the league in home runs a record 7 times. He dedicated many years to the team, later sharing his knowledge, passion, and leadership as the team’s manager. One of Jim’s greatest baseball joys was managing two of his sons and even having the opportunity to play alongside them a few times, creating memories that his family will always treasure. His talent, dedication, and love for the game earned him the honor of being inducted into the Land O’ Lakes Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004. Jim’s impact on the team and the Pewaukee baseball community extended far beyond his years on the field. His players and fans continued to proudly call him “Coach,” a testament to the respect, admiration, and lasting influence he had on generations of players. When he no longer played or managed baseball, Jim and his wife, Linda, continued to support the team by running the concession stand for many years, becoming familiar and welcoming faces to players, families, and fans throughout the community.

When he wasn’t working, Jim loved golfing with his wife, sons, and friends, creating countless memories on the course. He was also an avid bowler for many years, enjoying bowling with Linda and participating in men’s leagues. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting deer, turkey and pheasant, appreciating the outdoors and the time spent pursuing the activities he loved. Jim was a member of his Texas Hold’em poker league, where he enjoyed the camaraderie, friendships, and friendly competition. A devoted Wisconsin sports fan, Jim could often be found cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Bucks. More than anything, he treasured the time he spent with his family, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

Above all else, Jim cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda (Schroeder) Bloedow; his three sons, Todd (Jill) Bloedow, Dan (Kris) Bloedow, and Jamie (Kari) Bloedow; and his treasured grandchildren, Branden, Alyssa, Riley, Carson, Mya, and Morgan. Jim and Linda recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 25, 2026, surrounded by their entire family, marking six decades of love, commitment, and memories together. He is also survived by his siblings, Marlys (Don) Pugh, Patti (Norman) Heinichen, David (Sally) Blaedow, and Pam (Mike) James, along with many extended family members, dear friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Dorothy (Wright) Bloedow.

Jim will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, quiet strength, generous heart, and the love he had for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, dedication, and community involvement that will continue to inspire those who knew him. His greatest accomplishment was the family he loved so deeply, and the countless memories they will forever cherish. Jim will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 5:45 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim’s honor to the American Heart Association or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
