Jacquelyn “Jackie” R. Healy, age 75, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026 after a 5-year battle with cancer and 54-years of living with multiple sclerosis (MS). She fought both diseases with courage, dignity, and grace until the end of her life.
Jackie was married to the love of her life, John Healy, for 54 years. They were united in marriage on September 9, 1972, and together built a life centered on their love for one another and their family. John and Jackie were true life partners who shared a deep Catholic faith, a strong commitment to family, and a genuine enjoyment of life. They created countless memories together raising their children, watching their family grow, spending time with friends, and enjoying the places they loved. For decades, they spent their summers and falls in Door County and, for a period of time, their winters in Florida. Through more than five decades of marriage, John was Jackie’s constant companion, her best friend, and the love of her life.
Jackie’s devotion to family was rooted in the life she knew growing up. She was the beloved daughter of Matthew and Stella Hefel and grew up on her family’s farm in North Buena Vista, Iowa. Life on the farm taught her the value of hard work, family, community, and service to others. These were not simply lessons she carried with her; they were values she passed on to her own children. Jackie graduated from the Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque, Iowa, as the valedictorian of her class, beginning a life of selfless service to others.
Beyond her work and family, Jackie had a creative spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. She was a published author, talented artist, faithful servant of the Lord, and a ruthless killer when playing Euchre with her family. She and John enjoyed countless plays, musicals, orchestra and live music performances, motorcycle and convertible rides, and staying in contact with family and friends. Her Catholic faith was central to her life, and she sought to walk with the Lord each day, finding purpose in serving others.
That love of others was most evident in the way Jackie loved her family. Family was the center of her life. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to be together. She celebrated their accomplishments, shared in their joys, encouraged them through challenges, and cherished the simple moments that became lasting memories. Whether gathered around the table eating “French Delights,” celebrating a holiday, watching a Brewers, Packers, or Bucks game, or cheering from the sidelines at her grandchildren’s sporting events, Jackie was happiest when her family was together. She had a gift for making people (and even complete strangers) feel welcomed, cared for, and loved, and her family will forever remember the warmth she brought to their lives.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Stella Hefel, and her four brothers, Arlen, Rusty, Ritchie, and Brad Hefel. She is lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters, Paulette (Frank) Hardy, Cindy (Gary Clyman) Molloy, Jean (Mike) Buelow, Kerri Sue (Jeff) Stange, Terry “Boots” (Machelle) Hefel, Skip (Candy) Hefel, and J.J. (Jeannie) Hefel.
Jackie’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her beloved husband, John; her children, Jessie (Jason) Skudlarczyk and Jim (Amy) Healy; and her grandchildren, Dominic and Dylan Skudlarczyk, and Jack, Mary, and Matt Healy. She treasured the unique bond she shared with each of them and was deeply proud of the people they had become.
Jackie leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy shaped by faith, family, service, creativity, and love. She will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but for the way she made others feel loved, welcomed, and part of her family. The family is grateful for the love, prayers, friendship, and support of all who surrounded Jackie and her family throughout her life.
