In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a simple act of quiet generosity or kindness in Ilene’s honor.
Ilene Ann Davis (nee Mattson) born May 13, 1949, passed unexpectedly on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the age of 76. Beloved Mom of Tracey (Bradford) Iding and Cory (Jonathan) Zylstra. Adored Grandma of Maya, Olivia, Kate and Ella Iding, Marley and Max Zylstra. Sister-in-law of Karen Mattson and Barb (Jack) McGill. Also survived by bestie Suzie Wendorf, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by her husband Al, brother Gary Mattson and parents Lew and Lorraine Mattson, who we know she is having a cold beer with in Heaven. She will be missed beyond words.
Ilene graduated from Custer High School in 1967 and married her high school sweetheart, Steve, shortly after they graduated. While they were not meant to be, the marriage gave them daughters Tracey and Cory, who were the center of her world.
Ilene began her Real Estate career at Robedeaux Realty in 1979 as an Administrative Assistant. The company later became Prudential Preferred Properties and then First Weber. She was the heart and soul of the First Weber Administrative office, organizing dozens of golf outings, company retreats and awards ceremonies. She was the company go-to for anything and everything. After making life-long friends and enjoying a fulfilling 35 year career in Real Estate, she retired as Vice President of Administration in 2014.
Ilene met Al through work. She asked him to a Bucks game, they hit it off and got married in 1989. They would go on to enjoy countless trips to Destin, Las Vegas and St. Germain together and later would take great pride in being grandparents. Ilene’s greatest joy in retirement was watching her grandkids grow up. She was a constant presence in the stands of the soccer field and basketball court and in the audience for band performances, promotion ceremonies, Variety shows and Christmas concerts.
Ilene’s favorite place to be was Up North in St. Germain. After retiring, she and Al bought a place on Lost Lake and it was their summer retreat. They loved to bring the grandkids up to fish, spend quarters on the bar’s claw machines, go for pizza at the Sayner Pub and play Sequence. After Al’s passing in 2023, it was never quite the same for her, but she still made some great memories with the grandkids, her daughters and her adored sons-in-law, Brad and Jon.
Ilene will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. She always had a compliment or kind word for friends and strangers alike. Fortunately for her family, she never missed an opportunity to say ‘love you more’ and we feel it now more than ever. She will be thought of often, missed terribly and celebrated always.
Gathering will be held at the Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin on Sunday, March 22, 2026, 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM. Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
