Beloved husband of Susan Schmidt. Loving dad of Daniel Schmidt, Linda (Tom Sutton) Vytlacil, and Timothy (Molly) Schmidt. Proud grandpa of Marie (Ben) Sonsalla, Christine (Michael) Wilson, David (Emily) Schmidt, Max and Emma Vytlacil, Julia and William Schmidt; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Luke, William, Valerie, Victoria, and Vivian. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and dear friend, Jeff Holicek. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Luise (Senger) Schmidt, his sister, Erika Illian, and brother, Gerhard.
Born on a farm in the German Land of West Prussia, he immigrated with his family to the United States in 1952. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and is a retiree of AT&T, where he worked as a systems analyst. He was a lifelong hobby beekeeper. He was a congregant of Crossroads Church of God in Milwaukee for more than fifty years.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin with a Funeral Service at 6:00 PM. Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin.
