Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Jan. 2, 2024 at age 55. Loving husband of Ellen for 31 years and proud father to Timothy, Steven and Samuel. Beloved son of Elaine Smith and devoted brother to Jodi Smith and Christine Tews (Jim). Proceeded in death by his his father, Ron Smith and brother, Scott Smith. Also loved by Paul and Pat Brings (in-laws), Andy Brings (brother-in law) and countless other friends and family.

Greg attended South Milwaukee High School where he met his future wife Ellen. He graduated from University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He and Ellen settled in Sussex to raise their family. Greg had many passions and was very active in a variety of communities including his church, his neighborhood, his band (Alter Ego), his career and many more. He loved working as a sales engineer and cherished the relationships he got to make with customers/friends. Greg was blessed to have many friends that he loved to share time with skiing, playing/watching sports, traveling, volunteering and having a good laugh doing whatever.

Greg’s legacy will carry on in how he inspired us all to live and act. We miss you already.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI from 3:00 PM – 6:15 PM with a time for sharing memories at 6:30 PM. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, January 15, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church, W220 N6588 Town Line Rd, Menomonee Falls, WI at 10:00 AM.

My heart breaks for family & friends who will miss Greg and I'm full of great blessings to have known him. he truly made the world a better place. we only have a short time on this earth & he made the most of his. Loved his enthusiasm in everything he did. Gods peace to all

My Heartfelt condolences to Greg's family. Greg was the kindest man. He and I used to talk about family and basketball, both having sons who played. He enjoyed playing as well, especially with his sons. We would share stories about our kids, their sports, and the bucks/packers. It was always so nice to catch up with him when he would come to Staff. He will be missed.

Greg was such a beautiful and gentle soul. He was the purest human being that I ever met. He was so talented and smart and such a great athlete, I played tennis with him few times and I was never able to beat him and towards the end his life we played golf and even though he was weak, he played really well. I truly enjoyed being with him and I will miss him. God bless your soul my friend
