Greg A. Whitehaus

Gregory Alan Whitehaus of Muskego, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025. He was true to himself until the end, passing with steadfastness and humor. His children and their mother ushered him into the afterlife with compassion and love.

Greg – affectionately called “Pops” in the last 14 years of his life – was born on September 10, 1952 to Marie “Ma” Whitehaus (née Petrie) and John “Pa” Whitehaus. He grew up on a farm in Muskego, nurtured by Ma’s homemade cooking, Pa’s strict hand, and his brothers Larry’s and Brian’s camaraderie while taking care of the cows and yard. Pops reminisced about his childhood fondly and often shared stories with his children and grandchildren.

Pops graduated from Catholic Memorial High School and as a young man worked as a parts manager at MW Marine. He retired from the Muskego-Norway School District as a reliable and well-liked custodian, one who worked hard but also was not afraid to get into some shenanigans.

Pops found much joy in life. He enjoyed his cats, especially his most recent pal Spinner, and feeding the birds, chipmunks, and squirrels from his patio doors. In recent years, he found much glee in creating funny memes on Facebook. Pops was particularly passionate about racecars and baseball. He used to spend his time racing go-karts at the Badger Kart Club in Dousman, Wisconsin. The highlight of his go-karting career was racing through the streets of Milwaukee during Bastille Days. Additionally, he wrote for the Badger Kart Club newsletter, Wheels and Deals, specifically for the “Camshaft Connection.”

His true loves in his life were his children, David and Melissa, and his grandchildren, Jovi and Willa. Pops built a slot car track he called Road Muskego in his basement, which he meticulously curated with sentimental setting pieces and custom-made slot cars. He even made custom cars for his granddaughters to race on the track with him. Similarly, one of his favorite outings of the past two years was racing around the track at Road America in David’s car, a Father’s Day gift culminating in memorable videos of father and son having the time of their lives. Lastly, Pops was a devoted Brewers fan, a pastime that his beloved daughter Melissa and he shared for decades. For the past 20 years, he and Melissa were season-ticket holders. The 3,600+ live innings they watched together was precious time they shared that will always be cherished. And recently, Pops gifted Brewers playoff tickets to his granddaughter Jovi, a new Brewers fan, following in her grandpa’s footsteps.

Pops is survived by his children, David and Melissa Whitehaus, and their mother Judy Whitehaus; his daughter-in-law, Carol Whitehaus, and his grandchildren, Jovi and Willa Whitehaus; his brother, Brian Whitehaus, and sister-in-laws, Chris and Karen Whitehaus; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marie and John Whitehaus, and his brother, Larry Whitehaus.

Pops will be greatly missed, but his strength, kindness, wit, and joys will be forever carried and emulated by those he loved.

Pops’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin. Visitation is from 3:30 PM to 5:45 PM with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 PM.
