Gerald R. Sutton “Jerry” passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025. He was 99. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, his sons Jim (Min) and Joseph (Tod), granddaughter Nicole (Eric), and great grandchildren Tabitha, Gavin and Caleb, as well as many other family members and friends.
A proud Milwaukee resident his whole life, Jerry met his wife Phyllis while they were students at Riverside High School and they were married (76 years) shortly after. As a young man, he served as a Sergeant in the Wisconsin State & National Guard from 1946 – 1950. He began his career at Perlick where he retired after over 40 years. One of Jerry’s favorite things was fishing. He loved to be in a boat in northern Wisconsin catching fish. He was always ready to teach someone how to fillet a fish and Phyllis was ready to fry them up when he did.
He loved to make things, like gadgets, model train sets, and homemade wine, of which he made a wide variety. Of course, he was best known for his dandelion wine. Every year he kept a tightly run garden, taking notes and making any needed adjustments. He was frequently even called “the neighborhood gardener”. He always grew a lot of vegetables and his friends and family got to benefit from it. Above all, Jerry loved spending quality time with friends and family. He was a regular face at any family gathering and loved to host fun family times at home, too.
He was loved by many and will be missed very much.
Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, 2:00 PM – 3:45 PM. Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 PM. Burial will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
