Edward W. Plahna “Ed”, peacefully reunited with his wife Carol on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the age of 91.
Ed was born on November 19, 1928 in Cudahy, Wisconsin to Julius and Ann. He was a graduate of Plainfield High School in 1946 where he played basketball. Ed then went on to earn his Bachelor’s of Science Degree from State Teacher’s College at River Falls in May of 1950. He then joined the United States Army to serve our Country during WWII. After his service he then earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1955 from the Spencerian College in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Ed met the love of his life Carol and married her in May 1956. He and Carol loved to dance and also enjoyed traveling together. They would take spontaneous road trips to any destination their hearts desired, and take in the scenery on the countryside roads. They especially enjoyed trips to Branson, Missouri. Ed spent his career as a CPA in the accounting field. He was a meticulous record keeper.
Ed was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed perfecting his beautiful landscape at his home. He loved animals most of all dogs. He would spoil all dogs especially Zack. Ed was also a huge supporter of the Green Bay Packers football team. He enjoyed watching old Western movies with John Wayne, including Gun Smoke and Bonanza.
Ed was the beloved husband of the late Carol who passed away in August 2013. Cherished brother of Nannette Gumieny and the late Delores Olson. Adoring uncle of Paul Gumieny and Jay (Erica) Gumieny. Loved great-uncle of Bobby (Rachel) Woodliff, Heather (Brian) Halvensleben, Jeanette Woodliff, Kayla (Jayd) Phelps, Jake Woodliff, Cade Gumieny, and Carly Gumieny.
Committal prayers and military honors will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Wisconsin Memorial Park with Pastor Jonathan Misirian officiating.
