Passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Lucy, his wife of 50 years, who preceded him in death. Amazing father of Laura “Sam” (Ken) Lutze and Rebecca Samuels (Don Blevins). Giving grandpa of Kyla, Levi, and Nolan. Preceded in death by brother Jack (Kathy) Samuels and sisters Jean Hauerwas and Betty (Robert) Schmidt. Survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ed was truly devoted to his family all the way to the end.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 PM at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin.

“Our Dad was one of a kind and was truly dedicated to being a great father. He taught us life skills, with a firm tone and a sensitive heart. He was always willing to go out of his way to help a friend, and his jovial attitude would light up a room. He’d never allow anyone to feel left out and could turn a stranger into a friend within minutes.

Through the years, he was quite the sports enthusiast, from softball to golf, to cards and bowling, and even starred on an episode of Bowling with the Champs. Dad was a great teammate and loved spending time with friends.

He was unselfish and giving. He didn’t give a second thought to our mom’s health issues and resulting restrictions when they met. A true romantic at heart, he knew he had found the love of his life and needed to be with her. Through our mother’s many years of struggle, he cared for her and stood by her side to the bitter end.

He was a truly honest man and wouldn’t stand for anything else. We learned so much from him, to do the right thing and always pay our dues. He went out of his way to take care of us and everyone else.

Thank you for being all that you were, Dad. For helping us become who we are. We love you. Always.”

We will always remember the fun times we had with Ed and Lucy,. Ed sure knew how to cook up a great dinner - usually a steak - and we always enjoyed our conversations with him. He always had a great disposition - even though we didn't always agree him. Hope he finds a great "Scotch and Soda" where ever he is.
