Dr. Thomas “Tom” James Raspanti, Sr. (1948-2025)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Thomas “Tom” James Raspanti Sr., a renowned maxillofacial surgeon and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who left an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals.
Born on October 31, 1948, Tom was 76 years young when he left this world on July 13, 2025, but his spirit and legacy will live on. A fierce warrior in the face of adversity, Tom battled his multiple sclerosis for decades, defying medical predictions and inspiring his family and patients with his unwavering determination.
A dedicated and compassionate surgeon, Tom was a board-certified maxillofacial surgeon who dedicated 28 years to providing exceptional care to his patients at Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Associates, Ltd. He was a fierce advocate for the well-being of his patients and colleagues and loved his profession. His selfless commitment to his profession earned him numerous accolades and honors, including membership in the Beta Beta Beta National Biology Honor Society and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, as well as being a diplomate of the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. With his innovation and creativity, he designed the company’s logo, which has become an iconic symbol of the practice. He is also a past president of the Waukesha Dental Society and was the Chairman of the Waukesha Memorial Hospital division of dental surgery.
Tom’s impact extended far beyond the operating room. He was a devoted coach to his children, leading soccer and baseball teams with wisdom and enthusiasm. As an adult, he played tennis, golf, and baseball.
He was passionate about all sports, but baseball and football were his favorites. He played these sports throughout his childhood, leading into high school. This passion led to him playing both football and baseball at a collegiate level at Elmhurst University. His love for sports was matched only by his love for family, and he cherished every moment spent with his wife, Cathy, and their children, Kimberly, Kristin, Emily, and Thomas Jr.
Tom’s legacy is also marked by his unwavering support for his alma mater, Immaculate Conception High School. In 2017, he was inducted into the athletic hall of fame at IC in Elmhurst, IL. A testament to his passion and loyalty for the arts and sports, Tom and Cathy have been season ticket holders to the Milwaukee Repertory Theater for 43 years and Marquette basketball season ticket holders for 50 years.
Throughout his life, Tom embodied the spirit of “never give up, never surrender,” inspiring countless individuals to persevere in the face of adversity. His memory will be a blessing to all who knew him, and his love, kindness, and generosity will continue to be felt for generations to come.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy, his children, Kimberly, Kristin, Emily, and Thomas Jr., and his cherished grandchildren, Laura, Grace, Isabel, Maxwell, and Zoey.
Rest in peace, dear Tom. Your legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
