Dr. James O. Reiels, 86, died on October 23, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean (nee Costello), and sons Michael (Julie), Brookfield, John (Diane), Germantown, and Brian (Michele), Thiensville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren Patrick (Katie), Christopher, Katie, Matthew, Erin, Nicholas and Collin; sister Dorothy Zander and brother Robert. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Henry and sister Frieda.
After serving in Korea, Jim received his doctorate degree in Educational Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and spent his entire life educating people. He served as principal and superintendent at Nicolet High School, Glendale, for 31 years and held many board positions for other education organizations including Cardinal Stritch University.
Over the years, Jim was a member of the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus, Northwoods Singers, Watersmeet School Board, Land O’Lakes Fish & Game Club, Headwaters Art League, Ottawa Interpretive Association and a founding member of the Moon Lake Riparian Association. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing, watercolor painting, piano and singing.
Jim’s faith, wit and wisdom had an impact on many people. He was a remarkable family man, mentor, neighbor and friend.
