Doug was a very ambitious man with many interests and passions. He was a paperboy as a youngster and worked for his dad as a roofer during the summer months while in high school. He enlisted in the Army and served for two years. He worked at Babcock & Wilcox during the day and attended night classes at UWM for business. Upon completion of school, he worked at United Management until he was hired as the Controller at Wisconsin Liquor. He also owned and operated Doug Pederson Insurance Agency for many years and held a Real Estate license. The later part of his career, he worked in the office at WE Radtke where he finally retired at the age of 77. He enjoyed going on camping trips with friends, as well as the boy scouts and their week long summer canoe trips. He also enjoyed the yearly golf outings at Fox Hills, playing sheepshead once a month with childhood friends until they retired and moved out of state. He also bowled for many years and was currently on a senior league. He was a avid fan of the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers and enjoyed going to the games when he had a chance. He also liked Auto Racing. He loved doing crossword puzzles and using his iPad where he was able to play his favorite games. He also was a big country fan. For the past 30 years he enjoyed going to his camper, at Sheltering Oaks campground, where he liked to fish and spend time with family and friends. Doug enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports and was proud of their accomplishments. Doug and Melrose enjoyed traveling and visited many destinations. They went to Hawaii, took numerous trips to Las Vegas, took extended trips out West and to Florida just to name a few. One of their most memorable trips was to the Rose Bowl Parade which they received from their children for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Doug lived a full life and was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
