Dorothy Lydia Gudlin, age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on October 24th, 2025 at Cottagewood Senior Care in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dorothy was born on September 26, 1930 in Shell Lake, Wisconsin to Oscar and Olga Meister. She attended Maple Grove School and Shell Lake High School. She received her teaching certificate from Superior State University and taught several years at Crystal Lake School in Washburn County, Wisconsin.
She later moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she met her husband, Mike Gudlin, at an Eagles Club dance hall. They married in 1956 and were married for 53 years.
Dorothy loved cooking, dancing and conversation with friends and family. She had a very optimistic personality, a constant smile on her face and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her siblings, Marie (Quam), Carl Meister and Esty (Bernecker), daughter, Nancy (Paul) Michalek, son, Bruce (Doreen) Gudlin and grandchildren, Michelle (Paul) Gwinnup, Becca (Bobby) LaRock, Adam Michalek, Shawn Gudlin, Shannon (Conner) Johnson, and great grandchildren, Paul and Ivy Gwinnup, Lochlan and Marcus Johnson along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Terry as well as her sister Pauline Lawrence and brother Paul Meister.
The memorial gathering for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2025 at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin. The gathering will begin with a Visitation at 9:00 AM, Service at 11:00 AM, followed by a luncheon. Dorothy will be buried with her husband at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, Wisconsin.
