Doris Helen Konstantinidis (Condel) was born December 20th, 1941 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She was born to Adam T. Condel and Louella (Demetra) Condel. She grew up on Brooke Street with a wonderful Greek Community surrounding her.
Doris attended Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac and graduated in 1960. She then attended UW Oshkosh for two years, left school and began working as a key punch operator for Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac.
She first met her husband Christ at a Greek dinner dance with her friend Kay. Her first impression of Christ was just ‘meh’ but Kay insisted they meet again at another dinner dance. Six months later, Doris and Christ were engaged and got married on June 19th, 1971. Their Koumbari were Nick and Kathy Galanis. Their son Deno was born in 1972 and their daughter Demetra was born 1977. Doris and Christ celebrated 55 years of marriage this past June.
Christ and Doris moved to the south of Milwaukee in the beginning of their marriage. Then in 1979, they bought their family home on Rolling Green Drive in Waukesha which became the hosting place for countless gatherings where so many memories have been made.
Doris and her family were members of both the Annunciation and St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Churches. She served as the secretary at St. Constantine and Helen from 1989 until she retired in 2007. She was always deeply connected to St. Constantine and Helen’s community as she understood the importance of faith.
She was the matriarch of a large Greek family over which she reigned in an incredibly caring way. She had a very strong opinion about how things should be done and she wasn’t shy about expressing it. She was the glue that held her family and communities together, always keeping in touch with her friends, loved ones, and especially her son, and grandchildren. She was the keeper of her family’s stories. Her care was true and sincere.
Doris leaves behind her husband Christ Konstantinidis of 55 years of marriage, her son Deno, her daughter Demetra, and her daughter in law Bella. She was the proud Yiayia of Taia & Christos.
