Don and I became friends when his son Cody and my son Devin joined Cub Scouts in their First Grade at Pewaukee. This led to me becoming their Den Leader and my eventual persuasion of Don to join the ranks. We had a lot of fun introducing the boys to Ice fishing which included setting up his ice shanty at a Den meeting and telling campfire stories inside it. We both found enjoyment "helping" the boys with their Pinewood Derby cars, and I still can't believe we were able to set up an old (very long) Derby track in his kitchen at the expense of moving the table and refrigerator out of the kitchen to make room. He was probably most known for his role as Popcorn Coordinator for Pack 13 and became our Popcorn Kernel as seen in the attached photo. Our families became friends and enjoyed going to the Wilderness water parks together in the Dells during Winter Breaks. Don will be missed, but my memories of him will live on.

When Laurie Ann (Cooper) and I bought Steve Zoschke's car Donny stepped up to help me get it running so we could get it loaded and to our house in Texas. I did not know him or his history with all of you but in the few days we spent some time together I got to know him as a kind, good gentle man that was so giving of himself to help others. We had a time or two together as when the carb caught on fire in his garage and we raced around quickly to get it snuffed out. I really wanted for him to make it to Texas to visit sometime but life is unpredictable and he was not able to do that. I hope all of you remember him with love and admiration for the man that he was and for facing his challenges in life in a good way. Peace and love from Laurie and I Donny. RIP our friend.

How to fill the void of a friend dying. Just live and remember. In the end, I pray he gently sets sail. You are missed beyond measure.
