Donald Rieck departed this life on May 17, 2024, at the age of 89.

Father of Diane (Tim) Scherer, Karen (Tom) Neitzel, and Matt (Laurel) Rieck. Proud grandpa of Amy (Patrick) Hettinger, Ryan Scherer, Lauren (Stu) Accola, Harrison and Madelyn Rieck. Loving great grandpa of Finn, Liam, Parker and Ella. Preceded in death by his loving wife Jacqueline of 56 years.

Don was an Army veteran and served proudly as a Milwaukee County Sheriff for 37 years. He retired in 1991. He and Jackie wintered in Arizona for over 25 years. He loved to golf, deer hunt, and fish.

Visitation from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM, followed by service at 4:00 PM, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 8500 West Cold Spring Road, Greenfield, Wisconsin.

Don was always available to help me out with my condo, and my medical issues. I will always remember him fondly.

My deepest sympathy. May God comfort you during this most difficult time. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and may the perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all of the faithfully departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

My most sincere condolences to the family. I rented his place in Mesa for many years. He enjoyed fishing 🎣 when we stayed at my cabin in Wisconsin. He attended our breakfast club for quite some time. RIP. 🇺🇸🙏👮

True friendship is when you walk in different directions but remain side by side. On behalf of the “300” club at The Woods…We will remember Don daily for his kindness, honesty, generosity and humor. Our time together was short but our memories will be long lasting.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

So sorry to hear of another one of the “old guys” passing on. Many years of working together. We enjoyed seeing Don at the retiree lunches. RIP my friend.

I work at the Woods, and I took care of Don. My sincerest condolences to your family. My heart is broken. I can’t imagine what all of you are going through. I am truly sorry for your loss. He was a great man, and one of my favorite residents. He made me laugh with his jokes and sense of humor. I am so glad that I got to know him. 💕
