Derrick Joseph Dunlap, better known as Heavy, was born May 10, 1967 to the loving union of Frankie and Joseph Dunlap in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Derrick accepted the teachings of Catholic Church as a child in the 4th grade, attending with St. Agnes.
Derrick received his formal education from the Milwaukee Public School System attending Harold S. Vincent High School. He was a delight in his classroom, a good student and fast learner who excelled in his academics even though he was a class clown. He also ran track and played on the football team.
Derrick was a hard-working business man, he owned and operated Ace High Spots Bar for six years. He also was employed by MPS as a security guard for three years and Lakeside School Bus Company as a school bus driver for three years.
Derrick enjoyed the pleasures of life and he lived his life to the fullest. He was most happiest spending quality with his family and friends, especially his grandson. He enjoyed traveling, listening to music, dining exquisitely and making people laugh, he had a great sense of humor.
Derrick was loved and he will be dearly missed. He departed this life Friday, December 8, 2023. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Dunlap; grandfather, Albert Dunlap Sr. and grandmother, Rosetta Dunlap.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Frankie Dunlap; daughters, Delany Grant and Devellan Wheeler; son, Dimarko Wheeler; grandson, Chase Grant; sister, Yvette Dunlap/Harris; companion, Tiffany Adams and a host of family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, from 12:00 PM until the time of Service at 1:00 PM.
