Dennis A. Meskin
Dennis A. Meskin passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 19, at the age of 82, surrounded by his family. Loving husband of Donna (nee Baumler) for 59 years. Proud father of Mark (Kathleen) and Amy (Ryan) Park. Proud grandpa to Maximilian, Molly, Elise, Ian, and Callum. Also loved by sisters Loretta (George) Roraff, Millie Brown, and Karen (Jim) Harris. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Regina Meskin, and his niece, Deanne Brandt.
Dennis grew up in Nadeau, Michigan, on the family farm. While in Nadeau, he worked as a cheesemaker at the cheese factory in Carney. After graduating high school Dennis wanted to “see the world”, and enlisted in the United States Army. He served in Germany, with the Troop A 3rd Recon Squad 12th Cav division as an Armor Crewman, reaching the rank of SP5. He received the Good Conduct Medal and numerous other awards for his achievements and was honorably discharged. Dennis moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin after the military, and began working at Harley-Davidson. Dennis worked as a test rider, machinist, supervisor, engineer, and manager over his 42 years with HD. Dennis traveled extensively for Harley-Davidson; attending rallies, visiting factories, dealers, warehouses around the country and the world. He is fondly remembered by many colleagues and friends.
He met and married Donna, with whom he had attended high school with, in 1964. Dennis and Donna were married soon after, with his son Mark arriving in 1968, and daughter Amy in 1974. Dennis was very close to his father, and family. In 2002 he welcomed his first of 5 grandchildren, and thoroughly relished his new title of “Grandpa”. He loved each and every one of them dearly, and couldn’t wait to spend time with them.
He dedicated much of his free and vacation time to helping on the family farm, relatives in need, and friends who needed assistance. He enjoyed working on cars, going to car and tractor shows, painting, driving his Dad’s farm tractor and helping his son and daughter whenever they needed him. Dennis also loved cutting grass – racing up north to the farm, and later a little house on the bay across from Chambers Island to cut the grass every weekend in summer.
Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, WI 53151, on Thursday, September 28, 2023, 3:00 PM -4:45 PM. Funeral Service at 5:00 PM.
“You will always be loved, remembered, and deeply missed by all who knew you.”
