Denise Green, beloved mother, grandmother, and soon-to-be great-grandmother, passed away on January 24, 2026, at the age of 74.
Denise was born on July 8, 1951, in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. She lived a life rooted in service, kindness, and quiet strength. She dedicated many years of her career to public service, serving as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, various office roles in the medical field and later a tax compliance officer with the Internal Revenue Service, before retiring. After retirement, she returned to the workforce at Kohl’s department store, to continue to bring warmth and joy to everyone around her. She also continued extending her experience with tax services.
Denise expressed love through acts of service and showing up for others in thoughtful ways. She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, crocheting, crafting, baking, and watching Hallmark movies. Christmas was sacred to her, and she filled every season with warmth, traditions, and homemade sweetness. She was known for her radiant smile, signature dimples, and a laugh so contagious it could light up any room. She loved dancing, shopping, Disney, and especially Mickey Mouse, and she delighted in collecting little treasures and memories. Another enjoyment was being around her grandchildren, and zooming down target isles with her cousin Ellie.
Denise is survived by her son, Andre Green, daughter, Adia Green; her grandchildren, Gavin (Allison), Marquez, Nathan and Amara Green; Shun and Aidan Bannister, sister, Cheryle Smith, Niece Jocelyn Smith, Nephew Cameron Smith; and a great-granddaughter expected in March; as well as a host of cousins, aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, relatives, dear friends and her beloved dogs, Gadget & Gunner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice Schwartz and Roger Schwartz, brother, Roger J. Renfro and her former husband, Charlie Green.
Denise will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and the many quiet ways she made people feel cared for. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the lives she touched.
