Dean M. Christensen passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at age 73 after a courageous two-year battle with cancer and numerous health complications.
Loving husband of Anne. Dear son of Nancy. Devoted father of Matt (Missy), Brad (Jessica), Nick (fiancée Amanda) Shimel, and Ben (Cassie) Shimel. Compassionate Grandpa (Papa) of Ethan (Natalie), Helena, Colton Shimel, and Skylar Shimel. Beloved siblings Judith Swett, Dave, Greg, John (Darlene), Scott (Patti), Joe, Carrol (Carl) Jensen, and Mary Pat. Mother-in-law Karen Zacharias. Sister-in-law Dana (Dale) Armour. Also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his father Gene, his father-in-law, Sam Zacharias, his brother Joe, and dear granddaughter Helena.
Family was everything to Dean. Anne was his constant companion and provided unwavering support throughout their many years together. Their love was a beautiful testament to the strength of their bond.
Dean was a wonderful father and stepfather, embracing each role with love, patience, and unwavering support. Dean was grateful for the support and care provided during his illness by his children.
Dean was a devoted grandfather, also known to his grandchildren as “Papa.” Papa was the steady, loving presence in their lives, always ready with a warm hug, a comforting lap, and a book to read. His love for his grandchildren knew no bounds, and he cherished every moment with them.
Dean proudly served our country in the Army. He also dedicated many years of his life to his career at Caliber Collision (ABRA Auto Body and Glass), where he worked with dedication and pride. Over the course of his long tenure, he became a respected and valued member of the team, known for his strong work ethic, reliability and commitment. His legacy will not be forgotten by the many friends and coworkers who worked alongside of him.
Dean had a passion for the open road, which he found on his Harley Davison. Riding was more than just a hobby for him – it was an adventure, a sense of freedom that brought him pure joy. He loved hitting the road on long motorcycle adventures. His Harley wasn’t just a bike – it was a symbol of his adventurous spirt and love for life.
Dean’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him, but his spirit, love, and legacy will live on in the lives he touched. His family takes solace in knowing that he is now at peace, free from pain, and reunited with those who have gone before him.
Rest in peace, Dean. You will forever be in our hearts.
A visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 1:00 PM – 3:45 PM. Service at 4:00 PM.
