Dave attended Annawan High School, where he played football and developed lifelong friendships. He earned both his Undergraduate Degree and MBA in Marketing Management from Western Illinois University, later completing his PhD in Adult and Continuing Education Administration at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Dave served honorably in the Army Reserve from 1968 to 1973.
Professionally, Dave was deeply committed to education and to his students, taking great pride in his 40-year career at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), where he served as both an instructor and an administrator.
Dave lived a vibrant and engaged life. He loved watching sports (especially cheering on the Packers), fishing (particularly with his good friend and neighbor Bob Kuntz), and cooking family favorites such as chili, shrimp salad, chicken enchiladas, and apple crisps. He enjoyed reading, traveling, spending time at Mansfield Drive gatherings, socializing at family get-togethers, and monitoring and eating the flavor of the day at Kopp’s.
Dave valued having fun. Throughout his 12-year journey with Parkinson’s disease, Dave never complained and continued to live his life to the fullest. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a deep love of nature, a great joy of teaching, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the St. Camillus Memory Care caregivers, therapists, and nursing staff, as well as the St. Camillus Cathedral Square residents and families who offered support, compassion, and companionship throughout Dave’s journey. Additionally, the family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff of St. Camillus Hospice for their kindness and care.
