David T. Schacht

David T. Schacht went to be with his Savior on September 1, 2026 at the age of 84. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 62 years, Carole. His children Dan (Charlene) and Ann (Paul) Krause. His grandchildren Samantha (Nick) Lecus, Becca (Ryan) Bendler, Casey (Rebecca) Schacht, Elizabeth Krause and Nicholas Krause (Suzy). His great grandchildren: Brinley, Piper, Lainey, Cooper, Bryce, Sawyer, Rory & Stanley. Further survived by his brother-in-law Lee (Diane) Luedke, along with other relatives and friends.

David graduated from West Milwaukee High School in 1959. He worked at Clifford’s Supper Club in Hales Corners as a chef while attending UW-Milwaukee and Milwaukee Business Training Institute. David was an original IT guy, working with computers in the early days starting with the old punch cards and ending his 34-year career at Milwaukee Electric Tool as the IT Manager.

Upon his retirement from Milwaukee Tool, he and Carole traveled extensively. David loved looking at maps and planning out back roads trips. They would head out on road trips across the country together or along with his cousin Beverly and her husband Henry Marohl. They toured to Europe, Russia and Scandinavia as well. Dave and Carole also enjoyed their weeklong fishing trips up to Conover.

David filled his retirement years with activities. He helped his son build his home including making all the interior cabinetry. David was a master woodworker for over 50 years. He was able to make almost anything out of wood and was always in his shop working on some project or other. He made everything from furniture down to tiny jewelry boxes. If you could draw it up, he could make it.

He had many hobbies over the years including bowling, pool and golf. He was determined to master whatever he was doing. His favorite was firearms. An expert marksman, he loved to shoot trap, targets and especially enjoyed a day of Cowboy Shooting, winning many a trophy under his Despicable Dave cowboy name. He was a member of Schulz Resort Rod and Gun club for over 30 years.

David was a music lover, from Elvis to Country but mostly you’d hear Polka music from WTKM playing on the radio in his woodshop. He would always request the Blue Skirt Waltz whenever there was a live band playing.

His final months were spent being lovingly cared for by his grandson, Casey and his wife Rebecca in their home, along with his son, Dan. He was lovingly entertained by his Great Grandchildren Sawyer, Rory and Stanley.

A time of visitation will be held for David on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church S66 W14325 W Janesville Rd. Muskego, WI from 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am. David will then be laid to rest in the St Paul’s Church Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wisconsin Lutheran High School or St. Paul’s Church Mission Fund in David’s name would be appreciated by the family.
