Daniel W. Krause
Dan passed away peacefully on March 2, 2024 at the age of 92 in Naples, Florida. Loving husband of Marlene for 17 years and husband of the late Juanita (nee Rasch) for 47 years. Cherished father of Bradley (Donna), Todd (Cheri) and Heather Krause. Adored grandpa of Eric (Cassie), Drew (Michael), Elisa and Jamie (fiancé Ben). Very proud great-grandpa of Oliver (10 months). Step-father of Lynelle, Larissa, Gus, Larry and Greg. Dear brother of Donna Cummings, Lorna Byrd, the late James Krause and the late William Krause (Jane). Also dearly loved by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and wonderful friends.
Dan served four years in the US Air Force as an airplane mechanic. After the military Dan returned home, married Juanita Rasch and became a funeral director alongside his father, brother Jim and later on, his brother Bill. Dan was co-owner of Krause Funeral Homes which was family run for 89 years.
Dan Krause had a deep passion for antique cars – restoring over 20 during his lifetime. He belonged to the Classic Car Club of America and the Model A Ford Club of America. In 1974, he took his family on a 21-day road trip to California in a 1931 Model A Roadster – kids in the rumble seat. He restored a 1935 Bentley which he eventually sold to a museum and his favorite car was a 1935 Packard.
Dan Krause was kind, generous with advice and a mentor to many. He greatly appreciated and enjoyed the outdoors – planting hundreds of trees and looking forward each year to hunting with his sons and nephews. He was a talented woodworker and carpenter who helped design and build two of his own homes and the funeral homes. If something was broken and Dan couldn’t fix it, he would just make it. And he always ate dessert first.
