Dale was born in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated from Palatine High School in Palatine, Illinois, Class of 1965.
He then enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1965 and was based in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Scoring very high on tests taken in high school; he was admitted to a coveted “classified” missile program while enlisted.
After the military, he worked as an electrical engineer and was also a volunteer firefighter in Schaumburg, Illinois. He enjoyed being his kids’ bowling, baseball, and softball coach, as well as Cub Scout Den and Scout Leader.
He loved to build and restore antiques; from televisions, to cars to motorcycles. He enjoyed his time working on various aspects of the SpaceX program. Even with his busy schedule, he also found a passion for being an auctioneer.
Dale married the love of his life, Ingrid in 2013. They enjoyed traveling together around the country and the world; whether by plane, boat, train or motorcycle. An avid “Do it yourselfer” that constantly was thinking (noodling) of improving their home.
Dale was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, even while living in Wisconsin and married to a Packers fan. He was overwhelmed with tears of joy when his beloved Cubbies won the 2016 World Series.
Many of these traits and passions have been passed onto his children and grandchildren and his eyes always lit up when he discussed them with his family. He often said, “Apple meet tree”.
You will always be loved, remembered and missed!
