Celebrating the Life of Colleen Montag
We celebrate the long and blessed life of our kind, caring, gracious, sweet, and gentle Auntie, Colleen Montag. She is now at peace—pain free—and reunited in heaven with the love of her life, Bob Montag.
Survived by loving and caring niece Sandra (Michael) Scholz, and nephew Steven (significant other, Dani) Collette. Great nieces Amanda (Mathias) Holm, Emily (Fiancé Ian) Collette, Kelly (Jon) Cieslak, Lisa Kalous, and great nephew David (Kara) Scholz. Great-great nieces Payton, Blakely, Naomi, Maila, and great-great nephews Gabriel, Aiden, and Baby Noodle. Also loved by many cousins from the Zaporski and Gruszecki families.
Colleen built a career in bookkeeping at Hack’s Furniture and Equitable Bank. She had a true knack for numbers and, even until the end, held her niece Sandy to the highest standard of balancing her checkbook to the penny—even in 2025!
Together, Aunt Colleen and Uncle Bob were a dynamic duo at family gatherings. They always arrived early, arm in arm, dressed to impress. Uncle Bob brought the jokes, and Aunt Colleen came with some kind of homemade specialty—whether an exotic veggie dish, baked goods, her famous green jello, or homemade dog treats. Most nostalgically, she always carried a disposable Kodak camera, faithfully capturing generation after generation of family memories.
Although Colleen never had children of her own, she poured her love into ours, treating them as if they were her own. She adored animals, especially her beloved dog, Daisy. She found joy in gardening, needlepoint, cooking, baking, and staying fit through strength training and biking. She was self-disciplined and independent, yet deeply devoted to her husband, Uncle Bob. Their love for one another was both admirable and sincere—she even graciously smirked at all of his jokes, a true testament to their bond.
We will cherish the memories you gave us, the person you were, and your beautiful soul. Rest peacefully, surrounded by love, and finally pain free. We love you, Aunt Colleen.
