It is with profound love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cindy Skonord, a devoted mother, sister, daughter, and cherished friend to countless people, who left this world two weeks ago after a decade-long battle with cancer that she faced with extraordinary grace and courage.
Born in 1951, Cindy lived a life defined by faith, resilience, and an unshakeable love for the people around her. She was a woman of God in the truest sense – her faith wasn’t just something she practiced, it was something she embodied in every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, and every life she touched.
Throughout her long fight with cancer, no presence was more constant than that of her sister, Penny. Penny was not only her companion through the most challenging season of her life but a source of inspiration, strength, and unwavering love. The bond they shared was a testament to what sisterhood truly means. Cindy’s ex-husband, Doug Skonord as well as her best friends Pat and Valerie, helped her in her hour of need, and she will be forever grateful for them helping her in the hardest phase of her life and her greatest hour of need.
As an entrepreneur, Cindy carried her passion and determination into her work, building relationships and leaving a lasting impression on everyone she did business with. Her drive was matched only by her warmth, and those who knew her professionally were just as fortunate as those who knew her personally.
Cindy’s fight against cancer spanned over a decade, a fight she refused to lose quietly. She beat it not once, but twice, and in doing so, she was able to watch her son marry the love of his life, and experience the joy of placing her first grandson in her arms. Those who witnessed her in those moments know that every hard day she endured was worth it.
She is survived by her son Coby, her sister Penny, and all the family and friends whose lives are forever richer for having known her. She is reunited now with her beloved sister Tammi, her mother Gertrude, her father Herbert, and the dear friends who went before her.
Cindy will be missed more than words can describe. But her spirit lives on in every life she shaped, every heart she steadied, and every person who had the privilege of calling her their own.
Rest in peace, Cindy. You fought. You loved. You won.
