Christine “Chris” (Balistreri) Popp passed away peacefully on May 12th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, after a courageous and grace-filled battle with cancer. Through every step of her journey, Chris remained a shining example of strength, faith, and positivity—an inspiration to all who were blessed to know her.
Born on April 10, 1964, Chris lived a life rooted in love, creativity, and quiet generosity. She found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments—crafting with care, tending to her garden, and most especially, spending cherished time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Chris began her career as a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Tudor Oaks, where her compassion and kindness touched many lives.
After welcoming her first son, Joe, with her beloved husband Randy, she embraced her calling as a stay-at-home mother with wholehearted devotion. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her home as she volunteered as a school librarian, becoming a warm and familiar presence to countless children and families. She had a special way of making others feel seen, valued, and loved.
Above all, Chris was a woman of deep faith, living each day with trust and hope. Her guiding words, “Faith over Fear,” were not only something she said, but something she lived—especially in her final years.
Chris is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Randy; her sons, Joe (Amber Chieves), and their daughters Aubrey and Juliette; and Cj, and his son Hank. She is also survived by her mother, Marsha (Lile) Balistreri, and her sister, Sue Balistreri, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Chris is preceded in death by her father, Tony Balistreri, and is reunited with him in peace.
Chris’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and selfless giving. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always cherished.
A heartfelt thank‑you to Dr. Pant, the nurses at Aurora Infusion, and all the hospice nurses. Chris was deeply grateful for their kindness, support, and the comfort they provided, which made an incredibly difficult time a little easier.
A service to honor and celebrate Chris’s life will be held privately for immediate family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations to HAWS are greatly appreciated, as this organization held a special place in Chris’s heart. Two of her beloved dogs, Champ and Izzy, were adopted through HAWS, making this cause especially meaningful, and she now rests peacefully with all five of her cherished dogs — Champ, Izzy, Buddy, Sally, and Buffy.
To make donations, please mail a check to HAWS and in the memo please add “In memory of Christine ‘Chris’ Popp.”
