Brian L. Hanson, age 74 of Menomonee Falls, WI/Oro Valley, AZ found eternal peace June 5, 2023.
Brian was born in Viroqua, WI on October 22, 1948 to Melville Hanson and Audrey Hanson (Larson).
He graduated Viroqua High School in 1966 and then enlisted in the Army in February 1967. That earned him a trip to Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. When he returned, he married Jan on June 7, 1969, and remained in the Army until February 1970. They have two sons, Troy and Brad that they raised in Milwaukee and then in Menomonee Falls, where they have been for the past 35 years.
Brian left behind quite a legacy of accomplishments and awards. He succeeded in the military, in his career, and in life. Brian had a 40-year career as a professional engineer and longtime principal and CEO of Arnold and O’Sheridan, Inc. consulting engineers in Brookfield, WI. Loving husband, wonderful father, proud grandfather, and even great grandfather. He loved golf, short-track car racing, hunting and was always a figure in the stands for anything his children or grandchildren were doing. With his disease progressing he went on both his final deer hunt and final trip to Slinger Speedway. As expected, both were huge successes. Brian was a family man in every capacity. Holidays and gatherings in their home brought him great joy. Lots of great food, funny stories, laughter, and of course, lots of great memories.
His military service in Vietnam exposed him to Agent Orange which caused the De-differentiated Liposarcoma cancer which ultimately took him too soon. Like everything he ever did, he gave that fight his all. A true soldier to his literal last breath. His unwavering strength and positive attitude made it so much easier for all his supporters and loved ones. He was absolutely surrounded with love and family in his final hours, which allowed him to find the ultimate peace he so deserved.
Special thanks to the incredible staff at Aurora Hospice Team and Zilber Family Hospice, they are truly angels here on earth. Thank you to all the friends and family for keeping him in their thoughts and prayers.
Brian is survived by his wife of 54 years Jan, Son Troy (Katrina), grandchildren Jordan, Jason, Brady, and Ellie, and Son Brad (Sue), grandchildren Averi and Aubrie, Brothers S. John (Carla), Al (Patty), Ed (Pat), and sister Ann (Mark), Sisters-in-law Linda (Joe), Jana (Dave), and Sherry as well as many nieces and nephews.
