Beverly Jane Lawson (nee Jeffery) of Brookfield, Wisconsin. Born to eternal life on July 16, 2024, at the age of 97. Only child of Clara and Warner Jeffery. Beverly is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Edmund, her son Jeffery, and son-in-law Fred Matthes. She is survived by her daughter Julie Matthes of Menomonee Falls, grandsons Jay (Amanda) of Germantown, Ryan (Megan) of Madison and Sam (Carrie) Lawson, of Columbus. Also, great grandsons Logan, Sammie, Gavin and Brian and great granddaughters Grace and Vivian. She was blessed with many friends, including two special women in her life – Marlene Gruendler and Sherry Tobin.
Beverly graduated from Madison West High School in 1945, where she loved participating in theater and was dubbed “the life of the party.” She married Edmund Lawson in 1949 and they had two children, Jeffery Edmund and Julie Jane. Beverly was employed by the State of Wisconsin, Bureau of Personnel (later known as the Department of Merit, Recruitment and Selection) from 1968-1989, and was a personnel analyst when she retired. She enjoyed her job and the many lifetime friendships that developed. She spent her life in Madison until 2005, when she moved to Brookfield after Jeffery’s death.
Beverly was very creative and artistic. She dabbled in many art forms, including painting, jewelry making, and ceramics. She was an avid reader of novels, and loved traveling, dancing, studying history and playing a good card game. Beverly also loved to write poems for friends and family who were celebrating a special occasion. She spent many winter afternoons baking or making candy. She enjoyed cooking as well as hosting parties and holiday get-togethers.
Beverly was a very compassionate and caring person, with a special affection and concern for those who served in our military. Her strong faith in God guided her throughout her life, especially during in her later years when she faced many physical challenges. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Brookfield.
The family will hold a private celebration of life.
