Creators of Beautiful Families who carry on virtues of right livelihood: food, shelter and medicine. Randy at Peace; Betty at Peace. Treasured memories with them. Each day, we move on, inspired by the positive examples they gave us! RIP....

We send our condolences to Betty’s family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as her siblings and friends. Betty was a kind soul with an excellent sense of humor. She and my younger brother Randy complemented each other and were the biggest cheerleaders of their extended family. They were generous with their time and assistance to those who knew them. Betty will be missed. We always enjoyed visiting with them. At one point, they lived on the West coast (California), and we lived on the East coast (Virginia). Although we grew up in Minnesota, and moved elsewhere, we migrated back to the Midwest and lived in Wisconsin and Illinois. We have an interesting and funny story from when we visited them in California many years ago. We did the tourist thing in San Francisco, and we also visited Alcatraz which was shut down and turned into a tourist destination. We had a fabulous idea for the prison. All of us were going to buy it and turn it into a “fat farm.” For a fee, you would be “locked up” until the prescribed weight was lost. There would be no escape; and if you did, the sharks in the bay would be well fed. We thought we had an excellent business idea, but we never followed through. However, we got some good laughs when planning the project. Gib and Kathy Thostenson

To my loving sister Betty who was always there for me in my younger years. She was 2 years older than I, so we were very close, she helped me find my way around school in Franklin, MN. Then we moved to Eagle Bend, to a country school and again she was there for me. From country school she moved up to city school in the big city of Eagle Bend 2 years ahead of me and filled me in on the big city ways of life. We then moved to Olivia, MN which was a very big school coming from Eagle Bend. When we moved back to Eagle Bend, Betty stayed in Olivea and that's where she met the love of her life, Randy. We had to then adjust to not having Betty living with us, caring for us, which was very different. She always made sure that us kids were cleaned up for whatever event we were going to. Our mom always had her hands full with 9 children, so Betty being the oldest learned young how to cook, make beds, clean house, etc. She ran a tight ship! Randy and Betty made a great pair, Randy didn't take life as serious as sister Betty, which we enjoyed watching, he was always kidding her. She so loved her family, when we visited on the phone it was pretty much a one-way conversation about her children and grandchildren, and of course Randy. A very close family as it should be, great example to us all. Love you Betty and keep things in order up there. God bless, brother Steve

Remembering all the fun family times together visiting in California and Wisconsin. Not nearly enough, but those times were “big” in my mind as a young girl and also a first plane ride for my own two kids from MSP to Milwaukee. Betty always made us feel so much at home and her laugh will forever stay in my head. She fondly called me Norm and she had the most beautiful penmanship. I cherished those letters in the mail. My brother Randy was always so full of the dickens and Betty always had a way of handling his antics with grace. True love….blessed be her memory!
