Bertram J. McDowell –

It is with profound sadness, yet enduring gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of Bertram J. McDowell. At the age of 83, Bertram departed this earthly realm for eternal rest on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

 

A man whose very presence exuded tranquility and strength, Bertram was the beloved only son of the late Johnnie and Ruth McDowell. He served as the unwavering patriarch of his expansive family, guiding them with wisdom, kindness, and an unshakeable spirit that will forever be etched in their hearts.

 

His cherished memory will be lovingly upheld by his devoted wife, Ruth Alice McDowell. He leaves behind a profound legacy of love through his daughters, LaVette (Michael) Buford and LaTausha (Edward) Lewis. His boundless affection extended to his twenty grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who were touched by his gracious spirit and peaceful demeanor.

 

A memorial service to celebrate Bertram’s remarkable life will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation period from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a sacred Catholic Mass and the Rite of Entombment.

 

In lieu of floral tributes, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Cancer Awareness Society.  Your thoughts, prayers, and continued support for the family and friends as they navigate this period of profound grief are deeply cherished and appreciated.
