Barbara “Barb” Moroder passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026, leaving behind a family who will miss her deeply and carry her memory with them for generations to come.
Barb was born in the small town of Waterloo, Wisconsin, in October of 1929. She loved growing up close to her grandmother and carried fond memories of eating huge sugar and molasses cookies there with her beloved brother, John, with whom she shared a close bond. Barb has many fond memories of attending High School in Waterloo, and was sad to finally graduate.
After High School, Barb attended St. Mary’s Nursing School in Milwaukee. She was very proud to graduate and pass her state board exams on the first try. This accomplishment began a 30-year career as a special care nursery nurse in the OB department of St. Michael’s Hospital. Barb took great pride and found joy in caring for countless new babies, especially those that needed more intensive care.
Barb was a lifelong Catholic, and her faith was a steady and meaningful part of her life. She particularly enjoyed attending Mass and continued this tradition in her home through televised Mass when she was no longer able to attend in person. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty God created in the world and found joy in the many simple gifts of everyday life.
Barb loved the independence of being able to walk wherever she needed to go and particularly enjoyed living in places where she could walk to the shops and other places she wanted to visit. She loved shopping for little trinkets and decorations to celebrate the changing seasons, bringing the holidays and seasons of the year into her home.
She was also a wonderful keeper of connections. Barb maintained an extensive and carefully organized collection of greeting cards and had a card for nearly every occasion—birthdays, graduations, thank-yous, holidays, and simply to let someone know she was thinking of them. Sending those cards was one of the many ways she expressed her thoughtfulness and reminded people that they were loved and remembered.
Barb had a wonderfully silly side. She loved making up silly songs and rhymes, telling funny stories, and bringing laughter into the lives of those around her. She enjoyed reading a good book and cheering on the Brewers. She also loved knitting and crocheting, creating blankets and clothing that became tangible reminders of her time, patience, and care.
Barb’s greatest joy was her family. She was delighted by the births of each of her four children and loved them deeply. She was also grateful for the family that continued to grow around her and took great joy in being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Barb especially loved having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren come to visit. She always made sure there were plenty of sweet treats waiting for them and took enormous pride in watching each new generation grow.
Barb is survived by her son, Joe (Pam) Morroder; her daughter, Lisa (Craig) Coursin; her daughter, Laura Moroder; her beloved grandchildren Julie, Stacy, Jaret, Adam, Ashley, Sara, Cassie, and Sam; and her beloved great-grandchildren Jaden, Addy, Nathan, Mitchell, Lincoln, Faith, Drake,Tony, Ellie, Jacob, Hailey, Olivia, Rory, Owen, Everett, Bennett, and Great-Grand Baby #14 expected in November. She was preceded in death by her brother John; husband, Joseph; and her daughter, Julie.
Barb will be remembered for her deep Catholic faith, her love of family, her dedication to caring for others, and her appreciation for the beauty and simple pleasures of life. Most of all, Barb will be remembered for the pride and love she had for her family. She found great happiness in being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she leaves behind a family who will continue to carry her stories, traditions, humor, faith, and love into the generations ahead.
May she rest in the peace of Christ and rejoice in the beauty of God’s presence.
Visitation will be form 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM. Mass at 11:00 AM at Blessed Savior, 8545 West Villard Avenue, Milwaukee. After mass, guests are invited to join us for a light lunch at St. Margaret Mary, 3970 North 92nd Street, Milwaukee. All are welcome.
In lieu for flowers, Barb would appreciate donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/about-st-jude.html
