Surrounded by the love of her family, Barbara Ann Koller Dassow passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at the age of 87. Barbara was a loving and devoted wife, mom, grandma and great grandma.
She is survived by her six children, Nancy (Robert) Bagley, Gary (Dawn) Dassow, Patty (Ben) Yanasak, Thomas Dassow, Michael (Diane Trimberger) Dassow and Richard (Anne-Marie Kull) Dassow. Also survived by her 18 grandchildren: Andrew (Jenna), Nicholas, Joseph (Leah), Justin (Emily), Jamiee (Darrick), Lisa (Jarod), Adam (Caitlin), Eric, Danny (Silvia), Elliot, Jenna (Josiah), Carly (Levi), Becca (Judah), Calvin, Ryan, Meghan (Matthew), Matthew (Paige) and Mitchell. Barbara loved and cherished her 20 great grandchildren. Also survived by special relatives, Tammy Hodorff, Kathy Dassow, Kristi Dassow and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her dear husband, John, of 61 years, her parents, Florence and Fredolin Koller, her brothers and sisters-in-laws, Robert (Lillian) Koller, Kenneth (Carol) Koller, her in-laws, William and Amelia Dassow, Joan (George) Kowalefski, Linda (Ron) Kenyon, Wanita (Ralph) Bader, Karen (Jerry) Grube and other beloved relatives.
In her younger years, Barbara worked for the phone company, the public library, Red Carpet Lanes and her favorite, Sears, where she met and formed beautiful friendships with many of the ladies.
Barbara loved being at home taking care of her husband and family. She loved keeping an immaculate home, cooking home cooked meals every dinner time, and tending to her children with chore lists and activities. Our most loving memories include Saturdays with fresh sheets on the line, homemade bread and cinnamon rolls in the oven, and polished shoes and freshly ironed clothes for church on Sundays. Christmas was a special treat with homemade stollen for each family. All holidays were over the top with food and drink fit for an army.
Mom grieved terribly for our Dad and her family members. It was hard being the last but we figured Mom had more work to do keeping an eye on all of us.
She has a special place in her heart for her friends at Highland at Wildwood Lake Senior Living; June, Judy, Chris and Mary and all her friends at Hickory Park Assisted Living.
A special thank you for the loving care provided by her caregivers at Hickory Park: Janeeta, Shy, Isabell, Jasmine, Kayla, Martiza, Marina, Victoria, Martin, Amri, Ari, Alicia, Alahna, Brenda, Zach and everyone else at Hickory Park. Such a loving family atmosphere. Our mom was treated with love, kindness and respect as if she was their loved one.
“Mom, we love you with all of our hearts.”
