Claimed by the Lord on November 7, 2016 after a brief battle with pneumonia. Born in April 1931 to Thomas and Milda Lee, she was 85 years old. Married in 1954 to her loving husband, George Heberer (1926-1992). She was a caring and deeply devoted mother and is survived by her 3 sons, Lee, Craig (wife Joann), and Jon Heberer. She was loved by her companion of the last 23 years, Gunther Berg. Audrey is survived by her sister Lila Woods. Nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends will miss her dearly.
Audrey graduated from Bay View High School, attended Milwaukee Downer College (1953), where she rowed crew. She received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from UW – Milwaukee in 1972. She was passionate about teaching and touched many lives as a general education K-12 teacher and reading specialist with Milwaukee Public Schools, retiring in 1996. Audrey enjoyed physical activities with her family especially cross-country skiing and bicycling. She traveled, read extensively and was an avid gardener. She was especially fond of fishing, boating and water skiing in Northern Wisconsin, where her family has vacationed for generations.
The family thanks all who have given Audrey support through the years and thanks her caregivers at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Milwaukee Rescue Mission.
Services will be private. A Celebration of Life Memorial is to be held at a later date.
