Arthur Bevandic
“Walk slow so I can catch up”- Art to Doris 2017
We are sad to announce Arthur Bevandic passed away on Thursday August 11, 2022, at age 91. He was loved and will be missed greatly.
Art was born in Milwaukee on August 17, 1930 to Michael and Sophie Bevandic. Younger brother of Melvin (Betty) Bevandic. Arthur graduated from Boy’s Trade Technical High School in 1949. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and a combat veteran in the Korean war (1951-1953). Art married Doris on September 29, 1962 and were together until her passing in 2017. He was a volunteer firefighter in Hartland. He retired from the Milwaukee County Transit System after 35 years.
Loving father of Barbara Bevandic, Belinda (Tom) Groshek, Jennifer Bevandic, Sarah Bevandic and Jessica Baxter. Devoted Grandfather to Amy Tomaszewski (Ryan Flohr), Michelle (Chanze) Davis, Lucas Groshek, Logan Groshek and Zoe (David) Lira. Great grandfather to Ethan Flohr, Sofia Lira, Paisley Davis, Luella Davis and Henry Lira.
Art was a dedicated family man. He was always there when we needed him. Art liked reading, crossword puzzles, jokes (both good and bad), hatching monarch butterflies with Doris and the kids, ducks on the roof, family gatherings, visiting with relatives, meeting new people to tell old stories, skipping stones, swimming at Moose Lake, coaching sports, watching airplanes take-off and land, card games, long drives, trains and buying new cars. We will all miss his sense of humor and listening to him play the piano.
Art was surrounded by his family during his final days and died peacefully and without pain.
Thank you to VITAS Hospice for their compassionate care.
Final resting place will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Union Grove after a private ceremony at a later date.
Turn around Doris, Art is there…
