Anthony C. Berna, age 62, passed away on Sunday, May 22nd, 2022 surrounded by family at Froedtert Hospital after succumbing to his illnesses.
Youngest of 6, Anthony was born on January 30th, 1960 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Ambrose and Dorothy (Nickrant) Berna.
Anthony attended Mother of Perpetual Help and Custer High School. He spent his summers on the family farm in Amherst, WI. From working on the farm, he earned himself the nickname “Barney Barn Smell”.
On September 15th, 1998, Anthony was united in marriage to Amie Olsen. Together they raised two wonderful children, Amber and Austin.
Anthony enjoyed working with hands. He was a general contractor and even owned and ran his own business, B&G Services, for several years. In addition, he enjoyed working on cars, doing yard work, and gardening. Once he was confined to his island (the couch), he enjoyed watching tv, doing puzzle books, and testing his luck on scratch-offs with his children and wife.
Anthony was known for his story-telling, wisdom sharing, humor, and hard-working personality. He adored his kids and worked hard to give them the best life possible.
He is survived by his wife, Amie Berna, of 23 years; children, Amber and Austin Berna; brothers, Gerard (Irene) Berna and Mark (Sue) Berna; sisters, Beverly Koss and Claudia Gross; and sister-in-law, Karen Berna.
Further survived by several nieces and nephews, other family and friends, and his furry companions – Barney, Rocco, Sophie, Orangie, and his little buddy Vinny.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mildred Berna; oldest brother, Gregory Berna; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Kenneth and Linda Olsen; and brother-in-law, Mark Gross.
In lieu of a funeral, the family will be having a Celebration of Life at the Berna Residence in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 beginning at 2:00 PM. A casual service will be held at 4:30 PM.
