Born on October 29th, 1944 in Tupelo, Mississippi to Mary and Johnny, Anita was the middle of four children.
She graduated from Carver High School in Tupelo, Mississippi before being accepted at the beloved Stillman College. She gained her Master of Arts in Education degree from the University of Wisconsin. Anita taught with Milwaukee Public Schools for over 30 years and eventually retired only to return and work as a reading specialist with the school system.
She loved God and walked steadfast in her faith as a member of Greater St. Luke Baptist Church in Milwaukee. She was also an illustrious member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a sisterhood that she shared with her sister, Charlene. She was an avid lover of gospel music and even played many different instruments.
On December 7th, 2022, God called Anita home. She is proceeded in death by her mother Mary, her father Johnny, and her brother Daniel. She is survived by her sister Charlene Boarman and brother Harry Ivy and sisterβs in-law, Sharon Ivy and Mattie Richburg. She will be remembered fondly by her cousins Larry Farr and Dianne Farr Haley. She is also remembered by her many nieces and nephews including Daniel Ivy, Jr. and wife Tashiana Ivy, Daneal Winstead, Keisha Ivy, Charlene Arrington and Anika Richburg (niece and Goddaugher). Anita loved and will be missed by her great nephews and nieces Gianni, Grayson, Grant, Dylan, Jordynn, Isaiah, Ivie, Izana and Iβeam. She is also fondly remembered by her God daughter, Kamilah Dove. Anita was also blessed to have many friends that became extended family.
The Ivy family will miss Anita dearly. We certainly loved her but, God loved her best.
