Angeline (Barros) Samster May 23, 1942 – December 29, 2024. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Angeline “Angie” Samster on December 29, 2024, at the age of 82. Angie was the devoted wife of John G. Samster, with whom she celebrated 61 years of marriage just one day prior to her passing. She was a beloved mother to Patricia (Rick) Lipka and Jonathan Samster, and a cherished Yiayia to Aaron Lipka and Wyatt (Jared) Decker Lipka. A most treasured daughter-in-law of the late Peter and Patricia Samster. Born in Merrill, Wisconsin, Angie was the daughter of the late John and Georgia Barros. She met the love of her life at a Greek church harvest dance, and a year later they were married at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Together, they built a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and community.
Angie is lovingly remembered as a devoted sister to Betty (Barros) Dr. Nick Claditis and Helen Barros, and as a caring sister-in-law to James Samster. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, and cousins. A friend to many, Angie was known for her boundless generosity and warm hospitality, often bringing home-cooked meals to those she loved. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Angie enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cheering for her Packers, Brewers, and Bucks.
The Samster family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals who supported Angie during her final days. Special thanks go to neighbors David and Joanie, Greg and Sharri, and Ron and Jenn; the Compassus care team—Nicole, Katie, Jessica, and Heidi; the dedicated nurses on the second floor of Ascension Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh; Cathy and Ron Wenzel for their compassionate care; and Jim Mueller for brightening Angie’s days with flowers from the Garden of Edna. The family is especially grateful to Rev. Fr. Panteleimon Dalianis of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church and Fr. Paul of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Fond du Lac for their spiritual guidance and support.
Visitation Friday, January 10, 2025, at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2160 North Wauwatosa Avenue, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Matthew 25:23: “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” May her memory be eternal.
