In Loving Memory of Our Matriarch
Our beloved Alma Lee Robinson was born on September 28, 1944 in Memphis Tennessee to the late Rosie and Joe Mason, Sr. She was the oldest of nine siblings, and they grew up in LeMoyne Gardens in Memphis, Tennessee. Alma was their “Big Sister”. She helped take care of them and always protected them.
Alma attended Booker T. Washington High School where she participated in girl’s track & field and sang in the school choir. She had a lovely voice. Alma led songs at her childhood church, Temple Church of God in Christ. If she forgot the words of a song, Alma would adlib and make it sound just as beautiful.
Following high school, she married David Robinson, Jr. and dedicated herself to her family as a devoted wife and mother. She became a widow in 2004. Alma retired from Alexian Village where she worked as an environmental lead supervisor.
Alma Lee Robinson was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great -great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. On December 12, 2025, at the age of 81, Alma peacefully passed away in her home while sleeping. She lived a life full of love, excitement, laughter, and generosity. She was the heart and matriarch of the family—always ready with a warm smile, a listening ear, and a helping hand.
Alma loved life and all the joy it had to offer. She found joy in sewing, music, cooking, movies, and family. Alma shared that joy freely with everyone around her. She particularly enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite places to visit annually was Mackinac Island. Her home was a place of welcome, where family and friends could gather and create lasting memories. Alma was a very generous, fun-loving person. She had great style and loved beautiful things. She spoke her mind freely and honestly about any given subject and would tell you in a way that you would not forget.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Angela & Cynthia Robinson; son, David Robinson, III; grandson, Arron Alexander Robinson; great-grandson, Braylin Smith; and siblings: Elgin, Ronald, Billy, and Debra Ann Mason.
