Al attended Notre Dame High School graduating in 1956. Al entered the Air Force and served from July 1956 to July 1960. After the Air Force, he worked at AC Spark Plug for few months and Perfex for 13yrs. He graduated from Marquette University in 1977 earning a BA in Psychology, after several years of classes on a part time basis. In 1978, Al started his final long-time job as a Milwaukee County employee, working in City Hall. He worked there until he retired as a DPW Accounting Manager. Al could have been an artist because he loved to doodle, but they were more like intricate works of art. He enjoyed photography, also loved putting puzzles together – the more complicated the better. He also created his own blog on the internet. He really enjoyed cooking. He was a member, for a while, on the committee responsible for working on making the Lighthouse in Lake Park a historical site.
Al and Mary Jane lived on the southside and northside of Milwaukee and then moved to Grafton to a beautiful home for many years. They referred to themselves as “HERMITS.” They only went to doctor appointments, the pharmacy, and grocery shopping as they got older. They did enjoy visits, especially from the children next door. As ageing came upon both, Al and Mary Jane, moved to Milan Estate, in Saukville, Wisconsin until Al’s passing. Mary Jane still resides there. Thanks to all the Workers and Staff providing the help and care for Al and Mary Jane at Milan Estate. Thanks also to the Sharon A. Richardson Hospice for their attention to Alan in helping him and his family through his final hours.
Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery (date to be scheduled later).
Mary Jane is requesting donations to the Alzheimer Association. https://www.alz.org/wi
