David John Bell, of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 73, early morning, March 1, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol (Klarkowski), daughter Kathryn and her husband Jon Falk.
David was born in Manchester, England on August 8, 1943 to his parents Frank and Ceinwen (Hughes) Bell. Immediate family included younger brother Alan (Susan) Bell, and several aunts and uncles.
Prior to immigrating to the United states, he attended technical school and was a member of the Manchester Police force as a Bobby.
In February of 1969, David relocated to America, taking up residence in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Over the years his career consisted of varying trades and fields of endeavor. He was involved with different aspects of sales and management with Sun Electric Corporation (automotive diagnostics). David was very active in the automotive industry and was involved in sales with local Milwaukee dealerships. He was a national representative for a manufacturer of woodworking shop tools and traveled throughout the nation on their behalf. His sales career with various employers offered him the opportunity to reside and work in several locations across the country. A few key places include, Green Bay, WI, Chicago, IL, Virginia Beach, VA, and Ft. Myers, FL. An entrepreneur, David also enjoyed more creative hands on work through his independent wood working company, creating unique and specialized items such as storage sheds, picnic tables, and rustic décor.
On May 15, 2008 David was very proud to become a citizen of the United States of America.
Upon retirement in 2006, he found employment with the City of Brookfield’s recycling center. This was a wonderful fit for him to stay active and provide a sense of purpose. He stayed connected to the community and was able to meet many new and wonderful friends. David enjoyed exchanging facts and stories with residents, and little touches like giving “Fido” a treat when they rode through the gate. Over the past few years David also worked on a seasonal basis for the Village of Elm Grove.
In his spare time David enjoyed woodworking, a great mystery novel, crossword puzzles, music of all genres, and sports of all kinds. But first and foremost, he was an avid Chicago Blackhawks hockey fan.
His distinct personality and voice were hard to forget. When he was out and about outside of the recycling center, David was frequently greeted with smiles and kind words by the community residents he served. He will be missed.
