Yvonne was born in Phlox and was the 9th born of 15 children, she was the first one of the Tatro clan to graduate from high school. She left the small town and settled in Milwaukee, waitressing and doing any odd job to be able to pay the rent. Eventually she was hired at Briggs and Stratton and worked on the assembly line where she met her husband, Charles.
Yvonne and Charles raised their daughters in Pewaukee, where they lived on the lake. They kept busy both winter and summer with lake activities. Yvonne spent countless hours boating with her daughters and friends; hosting “boatnics” (picnics on the boat) towing skiers, swimming, and the best- watching the 4th of July fireworks.
When her daughters attended St. Anthony’s on the Lake, Pewaukee, Yvonne was the physical education teacher, keeping kids active and on task.
In 1978 at the age of 42, Yvonne began her 30 year real estate career with Shorewest Realty (formerly Wauwatosa Realty). She had great success and was in the Million Dollar club many years.
Beyond her professional life, Yvonne was a woman of many interests. In her younger years she was an avid bowler and tennis player and she loved traveling with her sisters, friends and of course, her daughters. She had a special group of girlfriends that affectionately called themselves “the Yaya’s” and together they went boating, golfing, hosted get togethers, checked out happy hours and went on many other adventures!
She was very supportive of her daughters and grandkids- attending their many and diverse events or calling to hear all about them.
Yvonne was the glue that kept the family together and she will be immensely missed.
A gathering to honor and celebrate Yvonne’s life will be held on October 17, 2024. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the Service at 3:30 PM at Dickson Hollow Fellowship Hall, W156N4881 Pilgrim Road, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin 53051.
