Willie Bowen was born on October 5, 1938 to the union of Harvest Mitchell and Prudence (nee Rogers) Mitchell in Crossett, Arkansas.
Willie received her education in the Milwaukee Public School System and attended West Division High School. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Billy W. Bowen on August 8, 1959. Their union was blessed with three children Dorla, Billy D. and Kevin.
Willie accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of Emmaus Lutheran/Hope Church for many years.
Willie cultivated her love and talent for sewing in high school. She later attended MATC and on June 2, 1972 she received an Associate Degree in Tailoring. She worked as a tailor for Jean Dalpe’ Bridal Shop where she was instrumental in designing and altering bridal gowns.
Willie retired from Master Lock in 1997 after 20 years of service. In her leisure, Willie enjoyed sewing, gardening, cake decorating, making flower arrangements, plastic canvas, cross stitching, and other crafting projects. In addition to those things, she loved making her own clothes and clothes for her family. She also loved spending time watching Brewers games.
Willie silently fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy W. Bowen, son Billy D. Bowen, father Harvest Mitchell, mother Prudence (nee Rogers) Vinson, sister Dorothy Perkins, brother Johnin Mitchell.
She leaves to cherish precious memories, children Dorla (Calvin Sr.), Kevin Bowen, grandchildren Kendra (Robert) Lepak, Desmond (Colleen) Lovelace, Calvin (fiance Theresa Chada Hadnot) Caldwell Jr., great grandchildren Isabella, Alaina, Marisa, Jarod, Gabriel, Logan. Sister-in-law Dorothy Bowen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin 53151, on Saturday, August 24, 2024, 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM. Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
