Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the age of 87. Loving husband of Mary Frances “Fran” Hester of 60 years. Kind father of Kathy (Matthew) Mullen and Walter (Terri) Hawkins. Special grandfather of Sean Mullen, Patrick Mullen, Megan Hawkins, Kelly Hawkins and Kate Hawkins. Dear brother-in-law of Kay Hester. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Special thank you to his care giver Cindy Widby.

Walter grew up and lived most of his life in Illinois, but recently resided in Wisconsin. Proud graduate of IIT and worked as a metallurgical engineer. Life long Cub Fan. A man loved by all and will be missed by many.
