Passed away peacefully on September 25, 2015, at age 91. Passed away peacefully on September 25, 2015, at age 91. He was the loving husband of Jan for 65 years, dear Dad of Dr. Martha "Marty" (Craig) Vinje, James (Carol), Daniel (Kathy) and Alan "Pete" (Wendy) Klager, proud Grandpa of Kristen Stoeckeler, Erik (Joelle Jost) Stoeckeler, Joseph Klager, Dr. Abigail Klager, and Adam Klager, and an excited great-grandpa to-be. He is preceded in death by his sister Donna (the late Bernard "Chuck") Birt. He was also loved by his niece, nephews, and other family and friends.
Wally was a veteran of WWII and a proud graduate of the University of Michigan, class of 1948. He was a founding member of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Model A Ford Club of America. He worked as an electrical engineer and Test Department Manager at Cutler Hammer/Eaton for 37 years. He was an Eagle Scout and Boy Scout Leader. He loved traveling and, with Jan, visited five continents. For 30 years, Wally and Jan lived several months of each year on the Costa del Sol in Spain, where they made lifelong, treasured friends. He loved the out-of-doors and enjoyed hiking and camping.
Visitation will be at Krause Funeral Home on National Avenue in New Berlin on Saturday, October 10 at 10:00 AM and the Funeral Service will be at noon. Burial will follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park on Capitol Drive. Memorials will be appreciated to American Cancer Society, the University of Michigan, or to the charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Senior Living of Elm Grove & of West Allis Memorial Hospital for their kindness and care of Wally.
