Victoria Ann Daugherty, also known as “Vicki,” was born to James C. Jenkins Sr. and Betty L. Jenkins on April 25th 1949, in Chicago, IL. Vicki was the second child born of nine siblings. She received her formal education from James Madison Elementary School, and later graduated from Hirsch High School. She quickly gained employment with the City of Chicago working as the lead secretary for the Department of Housing Division. She maintained employment with the city for nearly twenty-five years in various other positions.
Vicki met her husband, Henry F. Daugherty, in 1972. They began a long courtship and eventually married in 1975. Their union remained strong for fourteen years until Henry unfortunately passed away in 1989. Before his passing, the two of them began a new chapter by relocating their family to Milwaukee, WI in 1988. It was then, Vicki began to focus her time solely on fostering children in need, and essentially became a receiving home for emergency placement services. She was a caring individual who had a love for children. She was a giving person who would anticipate the needs of others and put them before her own. She was extremely loving, compassionate, and forgiving. Truly beautiful inside and out!
Vicki was also a strong woman of great faith… a prayer warrior who encouraged others to live their best life. Her contributions to her church home, Central Assembly of God, were undoubtedly remarkable. She was the ambassador of the clothing ministry, where she founded, organized, and recruited volunteers to assist with helping to clothe the less fortunate. Vicki was also a Sunday school teacher for the children and volunteered at several various outreaches.
